The 1865 Maryport Town Plan shows two pubs - the "Sloop Inn" and the "Ship Inn" on this site. This is probably the "Sloop Inn", while the "Ship Inn" may well be mostly the cleared area to the right. The building is thought to be early 19th Century and neither pubs survived to the State Management era, closing circa 1910.
