Hostas are said to be one of the best foliage garden plants and are grown mainly for their foliage. They are available in a wide range of leaf colours, sizes and shapes, and are also valued for their flowers, which are often fragrant. Slugs and snails love them too and are hence the bane to anyone who grows hostas, as they devour the foliage with a vengeance.
