A station was first opened on this site in 1857 by the Manchester South Junction & Altrincham Railway on the line from Manchester London Road (now Piccadilly) to Altrincham, for special-events only, and was renamed several times over the years. It wasn't until 1931 that it gained a regular daily service, and at that time it was renamed Warwick Road. This lasted until the station was converted to Metrolink operation in 1992 and the tram stop was renamed Old Trafford. View south west towards Stretford and Altrincham from the same position as Image some 7 years earlier, showing numerous changes.
