At the corner of Rowms Lane and Marriott Road, Swinton opposite the former Swinton Bridge School is this plaque commemorating the late entertainer Tony Capstick, who grew up and started work in the Swinton Bridge area. He is perhaps best known for his single "Capstick Comes Home" which got the local dialect word "wazzock" added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
