The church is at the corner of King Street (shown receding on the left) and Broomlands Street. According to Robert Brown, in the second volume of his "History of Paisley" (1886), "the foundation-stone of the Free Martyrs' Church was laid on 5th November, 1847. Mr G P Young was ordained to the pastorate on 6th October, 1847. Mr J M Dixon was his successor, and was ordained on 4th May, 1848. He died in July 1865, and was succeeded in the pastorate by William McIndoe, the present incumbent, who was inducted 20th January, 1866". According to the listing text for the building, additions and alterations were made by T G Abercrombie in 1904—05.
