St Eligius, Arborfield Garrison

A church built in the 1980s mainly for military staff at Arborfield Garrison. The C of E's own website says this:- "Since it was built twenty-six years ago St Eligius has been the centre for Christian worship and fellowship in Arborfield Garrison and for the Corps of REME. Within its walls, soldiers and their families received a warm welcome, as did other people from around the Garrison who joined them. The church provided an open and inclusive ministry offering support that took account of the particular pressures and hardships of military life. Whilst REME has moved to Lyneham, St Eligius Church remains. We continue to offer a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us, wherever they are on their Christian journey. We also offer support to the soldiers and their families who continue to live in the military housing.
