Former course of Combe Lane

The pavement on the east side of Upper Street heads off on its own along the east side of Beech Cottage. This is the former course of Combe Lane, which continued into Combe Lane on the other side of the Shere Road bypass before the bypass was laid out in 1959–60. It is still passable on foot, if overhung by trees, but there is virtually nothing left of the old carriageway.
