For many years, this building housed Pool Post Office, until it was closed in 1995. A plaque next to the still existent Georgian post box reads "The Maddern family has kept the Post Office for over 100 years ending in 1995". The road on which the post office stands was once the main A30 before a dual carriageway bypass was built.
