The bank occupies the former "White Lion" inn, rebuilt in 1898 in a Northern Flemish style (very popular at the time). "In the later 1960s the White Lion closed and was purchased by the Greater London Council for proposed road-widening. In 1984 it was bought by Land & Equity Group, renovated, and made into offices over a bank. It is now called Lion House" - information quoted from this http://www.british-history.ac.uk/survey-london/vol47/pp439-455#h2-0007.
