Probably dating from the early 19th Century when the town expanded following arrival of the railway and opening of Brayton Domain Colliery, The Sun Inn was acquired by the State Management Scheme in November 1918. It was sold to Scottish & Newcastle on 19 April 1973 and is still trading. See also: Image] and Image] .
