This was built in 1836 (date in Roman numerals at the centre of the parapet) as a Roman Catholic school, and is similar to the Church of England 'National' schools of the same period. Notice the inscriptions 'Girls' on the left gable and 'Boys' on the right gable. The graveyard can be glimpsed to the right (see other photograph).
