Hednesford Park

What is now Hednesford Park was once Hednesford Pool, a substantial body of water fed by the Bentley Brook. In order to prevent colliery flooding the brook was diverted in the late 19th century and by 1900 the pool had dried up. The area was opened as a park in 1931, funded by a levy on the coal produced by local mines.
