The Western Power Distribution electricity substation is in a brick enclosure on the west side of Friars Street. Its identifier is S/STN No 41324. A caution notice on the locked grey gates shows the presence of SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride, an insulating gas used in high voltage systems).
