Conversation with local historian Gordon L Routledge advised the Bank was built circa 1900 on the site of Monkhouse's Brewery, which provided the Bank with a ready built cellar! It is unclear when the Bank closed. The site should not be confused with Monkhouse's Vaults, which came under State Management on 1 October 1916 and has yet to be traced.
