Carterton currently only has three public houses which is very unusual for a town of about 20,000 people and growing rapidly. The Beehive is the oldest and dates from 1932 but has been much extended since then. It was built for the Burford brewers Garne & Sons Limited in the early days of the nearby RAF base. In 1969 the brewery and its tied pubs were acquired by Wadsworths Brewery of Devizes, Wiltshire. It has remained a Wadworths house since then. It serves food and has very late closing times on Fridays & Saturdays. Image
