This coffee shop - now one of the numerous refreshment places in the city - is the site of one of Manchester's most famous record sellers of the 1960s - RARE RECORDS - who, along with Forsyth's, were the pre-eminent suppliers of classical records and importers of what is now called 'World Music', especially hard-to-get European and American labels. They later moved to John Dalton Street before closing when the owner retired. Happily, Forsyth's is still going strong, nearby on Deansgate.
