I had not really noticed this small area of woodland before but it seems to have acquired a name plate. The website of the Sandbach Environmental Trail tells us that it was "once part of the gardens of the Old Hall Hotel. It now belongs to Congleton Borough Council and has recently been given the name of St Mary's Wood." The Wood itself is a nature sanctuary with no visiting arrangements.
