A Neolithic long barrow, overgrown and burrowed by animals. In 1936, L.V. Grinsell recorded a false portal at the north-east end (shown here on the left), and also a chamber on the north side of the barrow towards the eastern end, which was discovered by accident in 1871. NB. This long barrow is not on the drive which goes past Gatcombe Lodge itself; it is next to the drive which joins the road slightly further north, along which runs a public footpath.
