The transformation of the former Sunbeam motor cycle factory into residential apartments is a massive task which is taking several years. Currently, work is being done on the roofing above Jeddo Street. Sunbeam, registered in 1888, was once famous for its motorcycles and cars, but the 120,000 square feet (1.12 hectare) site off the Penn Road island was vacated in 1999. It was purchased in 2013 by property developer Liam Wordley , and planning permission has been obtained for a range of residential developments.
