The name Combermere pops up in various places around Cheshire; the first Viscount Combermere, Field Marshal Stapleton Cotton, was a distinguished 19th century army officer who became Governor of Barbados. The pub is very much at the heart of Audlem, physically and metaphorically, with both a community atmosphere and quality food.
