Cast iron post by the A689, in parish of STANHOPE (WEAR VALLEY District), 200m West of junction with the B6278, on verge against stone wall, on North North-east side of road. Stanhope hands iron casting, erected by the Local Highways Board in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : {hand pointing right} / STANHOPE / (1 / MILE) : : WEARDALE / H.D : : {hand pointing left} / ST JOHNS, CHAPEL / (7 / MILES) : Milestone Society National ID: DU_WOAL06.
