Proceeds from the sale of donated items here help finance the work of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), the oldest animal welfare charity. It was founded in 1824 as the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in a Strand coffee shop in London.
