Rocklands incorporates three parishes, which the sign shows, St Peter, and All Saints, and the ruined church of St Andrew. Above the towers flies a rook which may be where Rockland derives its name. There are certainly more rooks than rocks. Almost hidden by the churches is the old windmill which used to stand on Scoulton Road north of the village. The tractor reflects the agricultural heritage, while the peacock represent those that can be seen roaming around the village. What looks like a penguin sitting on the gate is in fact Rev Leonard James, vicar of St Peter's, who was murdered in his bed by his curate in 1608. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5311902
