Inside the gateway, a plaque reads 'This lychgate is erected to commemorate the men of this parish who, at the call of King & country, left all that was dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger and eventually passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self sacrifice, giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom. 1914 -1918'. Twelve men are recorded - RWM Close, JR Hind, C Barry, C Butler, L Clark, B Hind, CN Hind, J Jackson, W Jackson, C Patrick, JW Stockdale and T Thompson. A second plaque is 'In memory of the men of this parish who died in the 1939 -1945 war'. There were two - JE Dimmock and S Walt.
