In 2001 Brynmawr Library was relocated from its original Carnegie building into the former indoor market behind the Cinema. With a grant from Cymal the main ground floor was converted to a modern library whilst a set of stairs led to offices and a kitchen above the public conveniences. In 2015 the Library was moved again to the Learning Action Centre as both the Library and the Centre were now run by Aneurin Leisure Trust and the Cinema (community owned) wanted to open a second screen. In early 2018 the location was still vacant.
