The bracket looks as if it might have supported a statue or an inn sign, which led me to believe that the building was the Lower George public house. However the 1:2500 maps of 1893 and 1918 show that the 'P.H.' was on the other side of the road, see Image I have been informed that the steps lead to what was a joiner's shop owned by Leslie Hargreaves.
