The damaged remains of the bolt, and part of the datum line of this mark have been rather roughly mortared over. It was cut in mid 1844 during the 1st Primary Levelling of the country, on a side level of the main Manchester to Gloucester line, and given a height of 524ft 9.5in above Liverpool Datum.
