This kirk was originally Liberton Free Kirk, built 1869 to a Gothic design by J W Smith. The spire was added in 1873 by Peddie and Kinnear. It is now a Church of Scotland. The second minister of this kirk, from 1856 to 1890, was the Reverend David Kelly Guthrie, son of the renowned Image], founder of the Ragged Schools, and Dr Guthrie's school buildings are in the vicinity.
