Externally, St.Helen's looks Victorian but it has late 13th century origins with a blocked early English 2-bay arcade of c1300 inside. Restored by Hodgson Fowler in 1887, now redundant, superseded by the larger Holy Cross church in 1940, it regularly falls prey to vandalism.
