In a small public park close to St Andrew's Church, the memorial was originally sited at Immingham Creek in 1924 and moved to its current position in May 1970. An inscription on its base reads: "From this creek The Pilgrim Fathers left England in 1608 in search of religious liberty. The granite top stone was taken from Plymouth Rock, Mass and presented by the Sulgrave Institution of USA. This memorial was erected by the Anglo American Society of Hull 1924." It was re-dedicated on 20 July 2008, to mark the 400th anniversary of The Separatists (later known as The Pilgrim Fathers) leaving England from Immingham to Leiden, Holland.
