The plaque marks the spot where the Glasgow house of David Dale, of the New Lanark mills fame, stood. "David Dale 1739-1806 Entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of New Lanark Mills This is the site of his Glasgow house in Charlotte Street Presented by the Friends of New Lanark".
