Market Cross, Grantham

The octagonal base is medieval, the tapering cap is 18th century and the shaft and cross described as 'modern' when the cross was listed in 1950. Listed Grade II and also a Scheduled Monument. It also forms an integral part of the recent (2011) sculpture 'Orrery' http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5281995 part of which can be seen over the top of the white van.
