Woolstone church is dedicated to St Martin de Tours. This church dating from the 14th/15th centuries was restored in 1873 by John Middleton during the time Gilbert George Coventry was vicar. He was related to the earls of Coventry of Croome Court in Worcestershire. There is a strong link with the earls of Coventry as their estate owned land in the parish of Woolstone. The manor of Woolstone is said to have been bought from Sir William Throckmorton in 1630 by Thomas Coventry, Lord Coventry. As recently as 1964 the Croome Estate Trust still owned land in Woolstone.
