The practice of desecrating graves is rife in some church and chapelyards so ride-on lawn mowers can be used by those who have little or no respect for the dead. One of the graves desecrated here was that of Pte. Arthur Powell of the 11th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, who died age 25 at the Netley Royal Victoria Military Hospital from wounds received fighting for our freedom in France in the Great War.
