Opened in 2004 by Sir Anthony Bamford (Chairman of JCB, makers of the world-reputed, yellow mechanical diggers) the building incorporates a number of eco-friendly design features, such as rainwater harvesting, automatic adjustment of ventilation and lighting levels in response to outside conditions, thermal mass heat storage and a partial oak frame construction.
