The Cardigan Arms on Kirkstall Road Image is listed grade 2 (list entry 1375062) for the quality of its interior, and recognised by CAMRA as one of the best preserved Victorian pubs in the area. The two men in the photo are playing darts, a traditional pub game in the north of England. It was opened in 1893 and presumably named after the Earl of Cardigan, a major landowner in west Leeds. The similarly named pub in Bramley had already been demolished as of 2017, and this one was under threat of closure but has since been taken over by the local Kirkstall brewery.
