View due south from the car-park at the rear of the Swan Inn over the rooftops of houses on Centurion Way. The linear rows of terraced houses below are in the former mining community of Clara Vale on the south side of the River Tyne. The larger village is Crawcrook with Greenside on the nearer ridge. The hill on the skyline with the tall aerial (a TV transmission station) is Pontop Pike some 9 miles distant, near Dipton Image http://heddonhistory.weebly.com/blog/heddon-views
