According to the information held by English Heritage, this listed building was home in the early nineteenth century to an academy run by Captain John Bickerstaffe (see http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-478309-southampton-house-greater-london-authori#.WIzbsjFXVPZ ).
