Arnos Vale cemetery spreads over 45 acres and contains many important wildlife species and habitats close to the heart of the city. However, its closure during the last part of the twentieth century allowed Mother Nature to reclaim much of the landscape. Only after determined campaigning by locals have the grounds been given a clearing. The work continues, largely by volunteers.
