There was originally a large coal fired power station on this site from 1925 until the 1980s Image That was demolished in the 1990s, and since 1998 the site has been a 5MW gas turbine plant currently operated by E.On. Self-sown birch trees on the site of the former railway sidings prevent a clear view of the plant from the railway station.
