Perrett's Park

This natural bowl in the landscape was once owned by Lady Smythe, heiress of a family involved with the coal industry of the area. The council bought the land from the family for £1,000 in the early 1900s to provide the people with a park in the midst of a major suburban development. Councillor Charles Perrett stumped up £500 and the park was named in his honour.
