Main Street is steeped in history, the trees lining the street were originally planted in 1897 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, the famous Village Jubilee clock was erected in 1925 to celebrate the visit of King George V. There are many cottages, restaurants and public houses that are also listed buildings along this popular Street. The local market was granted rights to set up weekly in Main Street by Charles II and still dominates the Village every Thursday.
