An attempt to recreate a 1910 photograph on Caldewgate to be found in the book "Carlisle Breweries & Public Houses 1894-1916" by Steven Davidson (P3 Publications 2004 - currently out-of-print), which was taken from approximately this spot with the "Joiners Arms" to the left (see: Image]). The Queens Head Inn stood just beyond the traffic island at left (now access to Sainsbury's) with the Royal Oak beyond - only the former Globe pub survives from the 1910 view (see: Image]), the Queens Inn closed in 1918 while the Royal Oak was pulled-down in 1987.
