This is the main gallery in the bank of 6 kilns http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5239355 . A railway siding ran along this gallery, and the drawholes (on the right in the alcove) are set at a high level to enable the lime to be loaded directly into railway trucks. There are three kilns on each side of the gallery. Note the provision of a nesting box, probably for Barn Owls.
