King George's Hospital was originally located about two miles to the west in Newbury Park on the A12 Eastern Avenue. That site dated back to the emergency hospital that opened during the First World War. The current King George's Hospital opened at the current site in 1995. This view looks from the entrance in Barley Lane. For a full account of the original hospital see http://ezitis.myzen.co.uk/kinggeorgeilford.html
