This building was an electricity sub-station when the town's first electricity supply was being installed. It is designed to look like the Strozzi Palace in Florence http://www.florencemuseumguide.com/palazzo-strozzi-florence/. A plaque on the wall records that here 2000 volts was transformed down to 100 volts at the unusual frequency of 94Hz
