Often referred to as the Registry Office, Torfaen County Borough Council's main Register Office is here in the Civic Centre, Pontypool. There are also two sub offices, one in Blaenavon and one in Cwmbran. A notice board on the pavement in December 2016 shows that the office is open (by appointment) from 9am-5pm (Mon-Thur) and 9am-4.30pm (Fridays) for the registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships. The office is open on Saturdays only for marriages by appointment. People having difficulty climbing steps can use the main entrance of the Civic Centre where there is lift.
