Built in 1935 to the designs of architect Reginald Uren, Hornsey Town Hall is currently at the centre of controversy with regard to its future. The owner, Haringey Council, has no longer any use for it, and is proposing to allow a developer to take control of the building. The developer's plans (which include a boutique hotel) are in conflict with the wishes of many residents who would like to see the building use for community use and start-up creative businesses.
