Cowpe is a small hamlet in Rossendale in the South Pennines, north of Scout Moor Wind Farm. It is thought that the name 'Cowpe' derives from 'Cow Pastures' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowpe but that is unconfirmed. The hamlet has a mixture of housing; terraced houses, cottages, farmhouses, renovated houses and semi-detached. It has been steadily growing over the last decade with many of the outlying derelict farms and barns being brought back into use.
