The Golden Lion is at 12/13 High Street. The Wetherspoon pub on the right occupies a site bought in 1905 for the North & South Wales Bank, better known as the Wales Bank. Before the building was completed, the Wales Bank had become part of the Midland Bank, later HSBC. The words MIDLAND BANK CHAMBERS are inscribed over the doorway on the right.
